Xiaomi Enters the Electric Car Market with Smart Features

Xiaomi, a brand known for its innovative smartphones, has now ventured into the electric car market with the launch of a Xiaomi ESU7 smart car equipped with impressive features.

Xiaomi, a brand that needs no special introduction, has made a mark in the tech market in China with its groundbreaking smartphones. Initially targeting the budget smartphone market, Xiaomi gradually expanded its portfolio to include premium smartphones.

Following its success in the smartphone industry, Xiaomi has diversified into various gadgets and products. From smart vacuum cleaners to earbuds and other cutting-edge products, Xiaomi has consistently introduced modern features in its lineup. The latest addition to their repertoire is an electric car, named Xiaomi ESU7.

Notably, Xiaomi has sought a license for manufacturing this car in China, but it’s essential to clarify that Xiaomi is collaborating with Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd. (BAIC) to produce the vehicle. The Chinese government’s approval is pending, and Xiaomi has already applied for permission from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for this venture.

The ESU7 sedan is set to make waves in the automotive industry, boasting features such as a facial recognition unlocking system. This innovative feature allows users to unlock the car without the need for traditional keys or even a smartphone. Additionally, the car comes with two battery variants – a 220 kWh motor for Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) and a powerful 495 kWh motor for All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

Xiaomi is launching the ESU7 in three variants: Xiaomi ESU7, Xiaomi ESU7 Pro, and Xiaomi ESU7 Max. The car is expected to be equipped with the Hyper Operating System (OS), extending its smart capabilities beyond the car itself, seamlessly integrating with smartphones.

Scheduled to be launched in December 2023, the ESU7 will hit the market in February 2024. Xiaomi’s foray into the automotive industry adds an exciting dimension to its already diverse product range, and it will be intriguing to witness how Xiaomi, known for its innovative approach, will shape the future of the automotive market.
